THE U.S. AIR FORCE USED THE BASE DURING WORLD WAR II, BUT THE SITE WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE GEORGIA NATIONAL GUARD and Air Force Reserve after the war. It was renamed Dobbins Air Force Base in 1950 and Dobbins Air Reserve Base in 1992.
