Our dedicated volunteer team of like-minded lawyers has formed a network to provide the resources needed for affordable legal advocacy, advice and education. This is only possible because our volunteers depend on funding through grants and donations. Elinsa Denise Turner is an Administrative Assistant on the GFLS team. She knows Spanish having lived in Venezuela for four years. She has also been living in Japan for three years. His countless life skills include: medical assistance for twenty years and legal assistance for 17 years. She has worked in fine art sales and has 18 years of experience in office management. Elinsa loves people and shows it in her missionary and ministry work, where she also works part-time as a teaching assistant at a private elementary school in Rio Rico, Arizona. I recommend it to anyone seeking justice. “I`m originally from New Zealand and my contact with Global Family Legal Services (GFLS) began in 1995 when I went through the green card process while working as a nurse in Texas on an H-1 visa. My trial was delayed for almost a year due to a submission error within the hospital administration. Ruth de Celina from GFLS gave me a lot of support and advice and helped me persevere in the difficult times ahead, especially when my foreign nurse friends all left the country while facing the same delay as me. Later, in 2009, GFLS helped me become a U.S.

Catahalas Arcuschin de Oliveira was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She holds a bachelor`s degree in education and anthropology from Colby College in Maine. She also has experience as an IT consultant. She is Minister of Human Rights and a missionary. She speaks Portuguese, Spanish, English and French and has experience teaching and leadership training in the United States and several Latin American countries. She has been part of the GFLS team for 6 years and supports our team as a legal assistant, IT consultant and translator. Global Family Legal Services began its legal services in 2004 and in 2017 became a 501(c)(3) public nonprofit charitable focused on immigration law, now serving clients from 35 countries. In addition, our Southern Arizona office assists low-income clients with certain civil law matters on a low-bono or pro bono basis. Our new immigrant asylum system will connect our volunteer lawyers with refugee claimants who need representation. All GFLS legal services, including this network, aim to further expand our mission to enable access to justice through advocacy, counselling and education – to reinvigorate trust and collaboration among all. Attorney Celinas Ruth came to Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico to meet with us in person. She then accompanied my son and me to the U.S. Consulate in Nogales, Arizona, to help us with the legal process. The students` tasks include scanning, classifying and entering information into a computer system, helping with preparing documents, assisting with research, collecting evidence, translating documents, preparing registration templates, working with volunteer lawyers, and possibly accompanying them to court.
